Engineering

    I worked as an engineering programmer from 1996 to 2001.  My work focused on data acquisition and hardware control, and was used on test and measurement equipment.  Typically, software I wrote would be used on test stations in manufacturing or laboratory settings.  The test stands interface to an object for testing (an engine's electrical harness, an ignition coil, a bumper, etc.), acquire data, then store or send results based on acquired data.  On manufacturing test stands, this often includes determining pass/fail for a given part and communicating this information to a local network so the part can be handled appropriately.

When working for Freese and Testron, this involved work sold to other companies, such as Visteon, PICO (Kamau Pico), Daimler Chrysler, and General Motors.  I am capable working in C/C++, Visual Basic, and HP-VEE.  Despite the fact that the only time I've been credited in a scientific journal (Wear, a journal of tribology) was as a result of some work I did in LabVIEW, I don't do LabVIEW.  I have made use of instruments and software products from Hewlett Packard / Agilent, National Instruments, Keithley Metrabyte, PC Instruments, Xycom, etc.
